FishingLicenseCheck

Terms of use

FishingLicenseCheck is a free informational reference. Using it means accepting the limits set out here.

Informational only

This site helps you identify which official recreational fishing license most likely matches a described trip. It is not legal advice, and it does not certify that you are licensed or legally compliant. The state agency that issues your license is the only authority on that.

Not a substitute for regulations

Seasons, size limits, bag and possession limits, gear restrictions, waterbody closures, tribal rules and commercial requirements are outside the scope of this site. Always read the current official regulations for the water you intend to fish. Every state page links to them.

Accuracy and change

Fees and rules change, sometimes without notice. We record the date each record was retrieved and last reviewed, mark records we could not fully verify, and render unpublished figures as “not published” rather than estimating them. Even so, the official agency page always takes precedence over anything shown here. If you spot a discrepancy, please send a correction.

No affiliation

FishingLicenseCheck is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any state or federal agency. Agency names are used only to identify the source of information.

No warranty and limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, penalty, citation or damage arising from reliance on the information here. You are responsible for verifying requirements with the issuing agency before you fish.

Links to third parties

Outbound links go to official state and federal agency sites. We do not control their content or availability, and we receive no commission or referral fee for any link.
