What we never ask for

The checker does not collect your name, date of birth, address, email, phone number, payment details, license number, or any government identifier. There is no account, no sign-in and no newsletter.

The only inputs are the answers you give the checker — residency, age, water type, method and trip length. Those are used in your browser to select a license and are not transmitted to us.

What is stored in your browser

• Recently viewed states.The slugs of the last few state pages you opened are kept in your browser's local storage so the search box can offer them again. They never leave your device. Clearing your browser data removes them.
• Checker answers in the URL. Your answers are reflected in the address bar so a result can be bookmarked or shared. That happens entirely in your browser.

The checker itself uses local storage rather than cookies. The aggregate measurement described below may use first-party analytics cookies according to your browser settings.

Aggregate analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate, cookieless page and referrer counts. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand overall acquisition and page performance. Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled; Google Analytics may use first-party measurement cookies according to your browser settings.

Page measurement strips checker query parameters before it is sent. Aggregate checker events contain the state code, residency category, water category, fishing-method category, trip-length choice, outcome, and number of selected licenses. They never include age, claimed circumstances, names, addresses, or free text. Official-link events contain the state code, link type, and destination host.

Links to state agencies

Every purchase and regulations link goes to an official state agency site. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. We receive nothing when you follow one — no commission, no referral fee, no notification.

Hosting

The site is served as static pages. Standard server request logs may be retained by the hosting provider for operational and security purposes; we do not use them to build a profile of visitors.
